Solo Show Exhibit
The Gallery Club is proud to announce the solo show exhibit of artist NV Jasmin with opening reception on Friday, May 29th at 7:00PM.
In her first gallery solo show, Puerto Rican artist NV Jasmin brings the culture of the tropics to life in a strong series of lively figurative paintings. Her subjects and compositions pay homage to the religious and native life influences from her homeland. A self-taught artist, Nellyvette Rodriguez-Garcia began her art journey at age ten, developing a unique style with passion and creative discipline. She was influenced early on by seeing her father create detailed charcoal drawings. Family is important to NV Jasmin. Her daughter Maura is a professional model which easily inspires NV Jasmin to depict her beautiful features and form on canvas.
NV Jasmin says of her art, “Beauty and passion are always on my mind when my paintbrush is in my hand. It is with the use of intense dramatic color that I find my emotions expressed fully on the canvas. My birthplace is always a strong influence upon my work and my life so I paint images of the Natives of Puerto Rico to express my respect and admiration for their culture.”
NV Jasmin has lived in BrevardCounty for 12 years and has shown her artwork throughout the county in local businesses like Juice and Java, Moonstruck, & throughout the county with the Brevard Cultural Alliance’s Art in Public Places program at locations like BCC, Holmes Regional, the MelbourneAirport, and the Planetarium.
The Gallery Club’s art director Claudia Pastorius notes, “The art reflects an ardent desire to keep the innocence and hope of her culture alive despite the changing values and rushed pace of life that can often sweep us away.The strong use of color indeed creates a deep emotional resonance and is beautifully balanced by the simple, classical compositions that come naturally to NV Jasmin.”
The exhibit shows from May 27th to June 6th, 2009. Meet the artist, enjoy her art & refreshments at the opening reception Friday May 29th starting at 7:00PM. The Gallery Club is located in historic downtown Melbourne at 701 E. New Haven Ave. UPSTAIRS, MelbourneFL32901.

The Expo of Heart 2009 at Broward County Convention Center in Ft. Lauderdale, FL was absolutely phenomenal! The energy levels were high with so many gifted speakers, healers, spiritual mediums, artists... We had fun with UpsideART's first Installation Art Project! Children and adults enjoyed spending time under the rainbow, jumping, playing with balloons, and entered our booth's coloring contest "What is Love?" Special THANK YOU to Kevin Aplin, President of the Brevard County ACLU for volunteering to spread art & rainbows in addition to awareness & activism. Also a super charged Thank you to Dr. Haig John, Your Family Chiropractor, for lending us "Thor", the happiest skeleton ever. Huge hugs and many thank you's to Conscious Living Partnership team, producers of the Expo of Heart, for inspiring and facilitating a creative and conscious revolution!

Seeing a vision of skeletons, clouds, rainbows and sunglasses in my minds-eye--- I set out to create it and share it with people who would enjoy it! How do you build a giant rainbow?
